HARRISBURG – Rep. Steve Barrar (R-Chester/Delaware) is hosting a shredding and drug take-back event on Saturday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at his district office, One Beaver Valley Road, Chadds Ford. The office is located at the intersection of Route 202 and Naamans Creek Road.

“With tax day just weeks away, it is a great time to sort through papers and dispose of anything that is no longer needed. Documents with any personal information should be shredded to avoid becoming an identity theft victim,” Barrar explained.

The event, which will feature an onsite industrial paper shredder, will provide the opportunity for households of the 160th District to shred up to three packing boxes of materials. The boxes will be returned to residents.

Only paper, not cardboard, will be accepted. Staples and paper clips need not be removed. All shredding takes place onsite, and the free event will be held rain or shine.

Residents are also invited to drop off their prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs and medicines for safe disposal. By law, needles and epi-pens will not be accepted.

“As the Commonwealth’s battle against the heroin epidemic rages on, it’s clear that we must work together at the state and local levels. Drug take-back days are vital in ensuring that medications are not used inappropriately,” Barrar said. “I hope all of the homes in the district with unused prescriptions will help to save countless lives and drop the medications off at this event.”

For more information about the event, please call Barrar’s district office at (610) 358-5925.
