Barrar to Lead Examination of Veterans Preference Legislation
WHAT: Rep. Stephen E. Barrar (R-Chester/Delaware) will lead a public hearing of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee to discuss legislation that would strengthen veterans preference laws in public sector employment. The following bills will be examined: 

        • House Bill 1092, which would create the Office of Veterans Advocate to assist 
          veterans who have problems concerning veterans preference, civil service 
          appointments and post-deployment civilian employment. 
        • House Bill 1152, which would reform, strengthen and clarify the use of veterans 

WHO: Barrar, Rep. Scott Perry (R-York), members of the committee, Auditor General Jack Wagner, representatives from the State Civil Service Commission, and advocates for veterans.
