Barrar Announces Opportunities for Veterans
ASTON - Rep. Stephen E. Barrar (R-Chester/Delaware) announced today several opportunities for veterans in southeastern Pennsylvania.

“As the majority chairman of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, I want to make local veterans aware of every opportunity and benefit available to them,” said Barrar. “Veterans have made many sacrifices for our nation, and they have earned support services. I encourage veterans to take advantage of these programs.”

On Saturday, March 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum Law Clinic will offer free assistance to veterans to prepare wills, powers of attorney and living wills. Veterans must register by March 20, by emailing or calling (610) 566-0788. The appointments will be held at the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum, located at 12 East State St. in Media.

On Tuesday, May 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission will host a Veterans’ Employment Outreach Day in the John Perzel Education and Technology Center of Holy Family University, located at 9801 Frankford Ave. in Philadelphia. Advanced registration is not required for this event, but veterans with questions may contact (215) 560-6054 or (215) 560-2253. Participants are encouraged to bring a current résumé and a copy of his or her DD214.

Barrar noted that he is hosting a Health and Safety Fair on Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Upper Chichester Municipal Complex, located at 8500 Furey Road in Upper Chichester, and that the Delaware County Veterans Affairs Office will participate in the event.

Barrar also hosts veterans assistance hours in his Upper Chichester district office, located in Suite 13 in the Willowbrook Shopping Center, 3358 Chichester Ave., on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. During these hours a representative from the Pennsylvania American Legion is available by appointment from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments can be made by contacting Barrar’s office at (610) 485-7606.
