Barrar Praises Efforts to Boost Veteran-Owned Small Businesses
ASTON – Rep. Stephen E. Barrar (R-Chester/Delaware), majority chairman of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, is lauding the efforts of Gov. Tom Corbett to assist veteran-owned small businesses by expanding the Small Diverse Business Program, under the Small Business Procurement Initiative, to include small businesses owned by veterans.

“Helping small veteran-owned businesses will provide a two-fold advantage – it will help to boost our small business-driven economy and it will assist those men and women who put their lives on hold to serve our nation,” said Barrar. “The committee has been focused on helping returning veterans to re-acclimate in this dicey economy. In June, we hosted a hearing to examine legislation regarding the state procurement process for veteran-owned small businesses. I am very pleased the governor is taking steps to aid America’s heroes.”

The Small Diverse Business Program, which also includes small minority- and women-owned business, encourages and ensures prime contractors use open and equitable contracting practices in soliciting and contracting with these small diverse businesses.
