Riddle Hospital’s EMS Unit
8/31/2016

More than 30 years ago, Riddle Hospital’s EMS Unit was launched with just one borrowed ambulance. Now, the unit responds to nearly 10,000 emergency calls annually and employs 62 professionals with specialized training and certification degrees in allied health.

The Riddle EMS team is also active in the local community providing activities such as CPR/AED training to schools, fire companies, businesses, and community organizations. The EMS team also provides instructional seminars to many area skilled nursing facilities, various educational sessions for school children, and serves as standby EMS coverage at sporting events and other large gatherings.

In addition to providing services locally, the unit assists EMS agencies that have become overwhelmed in other areas. It was last activated during Superstorm Sandy.

Riddle’s EMS team was recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA), receiving the 2016 AHA Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Award for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experience severe heart attacks.
